HOW I CREATED A WEBSITE THAT MAKES MONEY EVERY MONTH
In this post, I am going to show you how I created a website that makes money every month in the small town of Rundu, Namibia. I will also tell you the skills that I learned from life that I currently use to manage my whole online business operation.
The beginning (Dropping out of Varsity)
7 years ago, I started my journey of creating online content and making money online. I dropped out of the University of Namibia and created a website.
For the next three years, my website generated N$0, it only made losses and I even fell for a few online scams that led me to lose a lot of money.
Getting a Job at Waltons
A few years later I decided to get a real job at Waltons, where I was hired as the branch administrator. After a few months, I was not satisfied with the salary that I was getting. I also did not like the fact that I only received an income at the end of the month, which was very low. (I was living paycheck to paycheck.)
Quitting my job at Waltons
In less than a year I decided to resign and started working as a freelancer. I took a few courses on web development, business and video editing from websites like Udemy and Skillshare. Sometimes I used Youtube to learn skills when I could not afford paid courses on Udemy and Skillshare.
Reviving my website
On the 10th of December 2018, I published another website, it only took me about 3 days to get more than 200 registered users. Looking back at how it all started, I always thank my first users for hanging around even when my website could not deliver 30% of what it promised.
Growth of my website
The list of registered users continued growing, with an average of 75 users using my website every day. In August 2019, I decided to create an Android App since many of my users were requesting an app. After publishing the app, my users skyrocketed to 4000 users by November 2019.
On the 1st of February 2020, I had more than 5000 users, my website was still not generating any income. COVID hit us, many people were just at home so many websites benefited including my website which saw a huge number of users. I had to upgrade my hosting package to handle all my users’ activities, I started running into a huge expenses just to maintain the website…
Almost giving up on my website again
My website was still not making any income, because I did not monetize it. I had to talk to a few friends who helped convenience me not to shut down and give up on my website…
I was just making a loss. On the 14th of August, I managed to monetize my website with AdSense. It did not start generating any income in August, Google had to review my website and then approve it.
The website started generating income
I started generating money in September, my earnings are in European Pounds. In September 2020, I generated 93.10 European pounds (equivalent to N$1800 at that time).
FNB charged me N$112 for an international transaction, I was very happy, I could not believe that I was making money online.
This is how Google Adsense payments work
If you generate income in the current month, Google will only pay you that income in the next month. First, they have to verify if there was no fraudulent behaviour involved e.g clicking on Google Ads displayed on your own website is against their policy. After the verification, Google transfers my money on the 21st of the next month if my earnings are above the minimum withdrawal threshold.

Future goals
On the 26th of June 2021, I decided to buy 9 more domains. I am working overtime to create 9 more websites that will hopefully generate at least N$54000 every month (by the end of 2022)… I don’t know if I will reach my goal, but I know for certain that I will never make N$54000 if I do not attempt it first.
