Should you use MTC E-voucher as a reseller?

I have been reselling MTC vouchers in our small shop in the village. I got excited when MTC announced the new MTC E-vouchers!

I thought I would get higher profit margins when I buy straight from MTC. So I went to their website and checked out the e-voucher page, but I could not get their prices.

SHOULD YOU USE MTC E-VOUCHER AS A RESELLER?

I reached out to them using the online chat application, I had to wait on the page for more than an hour to get a response. When the representative replied, she just referred me to go to the same page that I was already viewing which did not have the prices.

I explained to her that I could not see any prices there… As a businessman, I needed to know my profit margins before I could even think of buying their vouchers for reselling purposes.

Prices for what?

She then asked me “prices for what?”, she went on to say I just had to purchase airtime that I wanted to resell and get a discount if I purchased airtime worth N$500 – N$1000.

She also attached the MTC Namibia e-voucher terms and conditions in pdf format. I went through the pdf and it only stated that resellers will get a 6% discount when they purchase vouchers for N$500 – N$1000.

After that response I was a little bit irritated, maybe I was not asking the right questions. So I asked her how much discount I would get if I sold more than N$6000…

The representative replied “vendors who make use of the E-vouchers for reselling 6% discount on the purchase”
I think that was a typo…

Was the 6% discount standard for all the purchases, even when I buy more?

Her reply still lacked the information that I was looking for.
Was the 6% discount standard for all the purchases, even when I buy more? So I explained to her that I currently buy from Cash n Carry and my profit margin is 10.5% for each voucher.

I went on to tell her that I wanted to find out how much it would cost me to resell an amount of N$6000 to N$12000 with MTC e-vouchers.

She replied, “please calculate the 6% discount from the amount you want to use for purchasing”.

I did not get what she meant so I asked her for the last time if a 6% discount was for all purchases even when I sold more, and then she replied “Yes“.

You can get at least 10% profit at wholesalers

If what she said is true then it is better for me to continue buying from Cash n Carry and other retail stores that offer better prices.

I would never advise any Namibian to use MTC e-vouchers if you can access retail stores that can offer higher profit margins.
